Frontman Andy McCluskey shares lead vocals with Paul Humphreys, who ordinarily functions as keyboard player and backing vocalist. Multiple versions of the song exist; the earliest are recordings by McCluskey and Humphreys’ previous group The Id. The three attempts at scoring a hit achieved the peak of #99 in 1979.»Electricity» would later appear on OMD’s debut albumand is regularly featured on OMD compilations.

All incarnations of the «Electricity» single were backed by the B-side and fellow debut album track «Almost.» This song was inspired by Kraftwerk song «Radioactivity.»
